Experience
I have been a private tutor for three years in the subject areas of wrting, literature, history, reading, SAT critical reading prep, PSAT critical reading prep, presentation skills, interview skills, and study skills. Ultimately, the goal is the success of each individual student. To ensure a lesson both fun and that will maximize classroom success, my teaching method utilizes an interdisciplinary approach. A typical lesson involves timed writing exercises, reading of literature or current events, grammatical practice, etc. I adjust lesson plans around the needs of a student, and can adjust to individualized classwork with collaboration. I also assign "homework" with the goal of increasing a student's creativity and understanding of issues. Some examples of home assignments are a personal journal, read and analyze any form of news article, or a full reading and analysis of a novel. Professionally, I work as full time marketer for an academic publishing company. I have previous experiences in both newspaper reporting and academic research. I have been published in USA Today, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and other local publications.
